Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) asks every site serving readers in Turkey to say what personal data it processes. This notice is prepared by the owner of astro-news (GitHub: hfatih), the data controller. Contact: GitHub Issues · github.com/hfatih
02Personal data processed
astro-news has no server, membership system or database of its own. Your profile, reading history and settings are stored only on your device and never reach the data controller.
Personal data can be processed only in these cases:
- Hosting: when you visit, your IP address and browser details are processed as access logs by the host, GitHub Pages.
- Comments: if you comment, your GitHub username, avatar, comment and its date are processed on GitHub Discussions and shown publicly.
- Feedback: what you send through GitHub Issues, with your GitHub username, is processed and shown publicly.
- Email: if you write to us, your address and message are used only to reply.
03Purposes
- running the site securely and without interruption
- publishing and moderating comments and community discussion
- reviewing and answering bug reports, suggestions and copyright requests
- preventing abuse and meeting legal obligations
04Legal grounds and how data is collected
Data is collected automatically while you use the site and GitHub’s services, or directly from you, on the grounds in Article 5(2) of the KVKK: performance of a contract (c), legal obligation (ç), data made public by you (d) and the controller’s legitimate interest, provided your fundamental rights are not harmed (f).
05Transfers
Hosting, comments and feedback are provided by GitHub, Inc. (USA). As far as you choose to use these services, the data above is processed abroad on GitHub’s servers under GitHub’s privacy statement.
Otherwise your personal data is not transferred to third parties, sold or used for advertising.
06Account data
If you create an account, your name, email address, profile photo address, sign-in provider, likes and reposts are processed to provide the account under Article 5(2)(c) of the KVKK and stored on Supabase Inc. (USA) infrastructure.
Deleting your account removes this data for good.
07Your rights (KVKK Article 11)
You may ask the data controller to:
- tell you whether your personal data is processed,
- give you information about it if so,
- tell you the purpose and whether the data is used accordingly,
- name the third parties it is transferred to in Turkey or abroad,
- correct incomplete or inaccurate data,
- delete or destroy it under the conditions of Article 7,
- notify third parties of such corrections or deletions,
- object to a result against you that comes solely from automated analysis,
- compensate damage caused by unlawful processing.
