02Stories, images and rights
Headlines, short excerpts and images belong to their sources, and every story links to its source. astro-news does not republish whole articles; follow the link for the full text.
If you hold the rights to something shown here and want it removed, choose “Copyright / removal request” on the Feedback page; we will review it and remove the item where appropriate.
The site’s design and software belong to astro-news and may not be copied or redistributed commercially.
03AI and machine translation
Summaries, “why it matters” notes, weekly recaps, paper notes and the daily question are written automatically by AI. Headlines and openings of stories not yet summarised may be machine-translated.
These texts can contain mistakes and are for information only. Always check the source for anything important. AI-written text is labelled as such.
04Sky information
Moon phases, sunrise and sunset, planet and spacecraft positions, ISS passes and the sky chart are approximate. Launch times change often.
Never look at the Sun with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope without a proper solar filter. The Sun pictures on this site are NASA SDO photographs taken from space.
05Comments and community rules
Comments and reposts are written by signing into your account. Your comments are public.
- Be respectful; argue with ideas, not people.
- No hate speech, harassment, threats, personal information, spam or illegal content.
- Cite sources in scientific discussion; do not use the site to spread conspiracies or false information.
Comments that break these rules may be hidden or deleted without notice, and their authors blocked.
06Data on your device
Your profile, reading history, saved stories, likes, reposts, badges and settings are stored only in your own browser. Clearing your browser data deletes them; export them from Settings to keep a copy.
When you sign in, your likes, reposts and comments sync with your account.
07Limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is”, without any guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete or current. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss arising from decisions based on the site or on linked sites.
Linked sources are responsible for their own content and privacy practices.
08Accounts and reposts
Accounts are optional and you are responsible for keeping yours secure. Notes you share in the Feed are public; the community rules apply to them, and posts that break them may be removed and accounts closed.
