New Resupply Mission to the International Space Station
NASA has opened media accreditation for the upcoming launch designed to deliver scientific research, essential supplies, and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS). This orbital laboratory resupply is critical for maintaining ongoing research operations and crew support in space.
Members of the media are invited to apply for accreditation to cover the pre-launch activities and operational milestones on site.
Northrop Grumman Cygnus XL and SpaceX Falcon 9 Partnership
The mission will utilize Northrop Grumman's Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft, scheduled to launch in November. The spacecraft will be carried into orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket for NASA. Designated as NASA's Northrop Grumman Commercial Resupply Services 25 (CRS-25), this mission marks the 25th resupply flight under this commercial framework.
The enlarged Cygnus XL module provides optimized pressurized cargo volume to transport crucial hardware and experimental payloads to the orbiting laboratory.
Sustaining Scientific Research in Orbit
Payloads aboard the CRS-25 mission support a wide range of scientific investigations, including studies in biological sciences, physical research, and technology demonstrations. Timely equipment upgrades ensure maximum research output onboard the station.
Commercial resupply flights like CRS-25 remain vital to sustaining NASA's long-term scientific and operational goals in low-Earth orbit.
